Quaker Steak and Lube

I am a stickler for hot sauce. When properly done, using a good blend of peppers and spices, hot sauce is both tasty and hot. Using vinegar is a cheap way out, and chemically distilling capsicum is overkill. At Quaker stake and Lube, a Midwestern restaurant chain, there are 15 options of increasing intensity to cover your wings. The wings are decent, not excellent, but they just serve as the canvas for these spices.

I chose Suicide (or whatever they changed it to because pussies got spooked), the strongest sauce without having to sign a waiver. This sauce is amazing and one of the few times I got overwhelmed, especially because I did not have any milk, cold water or bread to reduce the sensation. All I had was lukewarm tap water and pretzels. The pretzels had a nice taste, which I'm sure would have been nicer if every taste bud wasn't saturated with signals for spicy. Somehow, I know those pretzels weren't actually spicy.

My biggest complaints about The Lube are the decoration. TVs in the floor say tacky in a way not yet believed. The Lube falls into a standard American Feedbag decor, with an emphasis on cars and racing. One wall is dedicated to Dale Earnhart. Thankfully I missed the weekly prayer service.

In all, the wings are good and are worth the money. If you have the option, get drive-thru and avoid the experience of a generic design made crappier by NASCAR, America's greatest sport.
